Food
Our first recommendation is that you seek out ‘grain-free’ foods. These foods most closely mirror a natural feline diet and have sufficient calorie content for sustained healthy growth into adulthood.

Additionally, our vets recommend the kittens be fed wet food until a year old. We will feed our kittens WholeHearted once or twice a day. You can mix with water for additional hydration.
Be sure that you are feeding your kittens foods specifically formulated for kittens. Some products may specify ‘all life stages’ and that is perfectly acceptable ☺. The more water we can get our cats to drink, the healthier they will be. Encourage your cats to drink water by replenishing their dishes with clean water often.

Toys
I always suggest appealing to your pet’s senses when looking for toys. Cats can see at higher Frames per Second (FPS) than humans, so fast moving toys are a must! Our kittens love these fast moving springs.

Along the same lines, we recommend having plenty of teaser toys. These are great for one-on-one play to bond with your new feline friend. Be sure to put this toy away when not in use or feathers will be ripped out.

Another must have toy for any serious cat owner is a laser pointer. The quick and vibrant light of a hand-held laser is sure to get your kitten into full hunt mode. The laser toy is wonderful exercise for your feline without being too much of a workout for yourself.

Furniture
An absolute must are scratching posts/pads for every room. Scratching is a biological need. Buy these corrugated cardboard cat scratchers to save your furniture! Also, have your vacuum on-hand for the shreds of paper to come.

Cat condos are a great option. Put these next to your favorite hangout spot and it will quickly become your kitten’s new favorite hangout spot as well.

Cat trees are the ultimate way to tell your cats they matter and have a spot of their own in the household. You may find that your kitten is naturally drawn to the highest place in the room. Provide a tall cat tree to give your kitten(s) a comfortable safe space out in the open.
